A Family Doctor Who Knows You
Good general practice needs time. That is the idea the practice was built on: you are known by name, you are not interrupted, and nobody is watching the clock over your shoulder.
Consultations are the core of what we do. When you are unwell or worried about something, what you usually need is an experienced doctor with enough time to get to the bottom of it.
Thirty Minutes, Not Ten
Ten minutes is rarely enough for a complicated worry, let alone two of them. Our standard appointment is 30 minutes.
30-Minute Appointments as Standard
Long enough to raise more than one thing, ask what you actually came to ask, and leave with a plan you understand.
That time lets us:
- Hear the whole story, not just the headline.
- Deal with more than one problem in a single visit.
- Examine you properly.
- Explain what we think is going on, in plain language.
- Go through the options and agree what happens next.
We do not run a “one problem per appointment” rule. Symptoms are often connected, and you only notice that if you have time to look.
Seeing the Same Doctor
Repeating your history to a different doctor every visit is wearing, and it is also how things get missed. Here you see the same GP.
Whether that is Dr James Coutts Donald or Dr Camilla Nuttall, your doctor comes to know your medical background, your family, and how you like to be dealt with. That makes for safer decisions, and a good deal less repetition for you.
General Health Concerns
We cover the full breadth of general practice, both sudden illness and long-term conditions.
Acute illness:
- Infections (chest, ear, throat, urinary tract).
- Rashes and skin concerns.
- Musculoskeletal pain and minor injuries.
- Abdominal pain and digestive problems.
Long-term conditions:
- High blood pressure.

Referrals to Specialists
Most problems can be sorted out here. Occasionally you need a specialist.
Our doctors have built up a list of consultants they trust across Hampshire and London over years of practice. If you need referring, we will send you to the right person for your particular problem rather than the first name on a list.
Prescriptions and Tests
We can write a private prescription during your appointment, and any pharmacy will dispense it.
If you need investigating further, we take blood here at the practice, and we can arrange an X-ray, MRI or CT scan quickly through the imaging centres we work with.
