Visa Medicals
Moving abroad usually means a health check to satisfy immigration rules. We do medicals for a range of countries, including China, Saudi Arabia, South Africa and the Caribbean.
Depending on the country, this can involve:
- Physical examination: a full check of your general health.
- Laboratory tests: blood tests for syphilis, HIV and hepatitis, plus urine analysis.
- Infectious disease screening: TB screening, and arranging a chest X-ray where one is required.
- Vaccinations: checking your records and giving whatever is needed.
- The report: completing the specific forms the embassy or consulate requires.
Bring all your forms and your ID to the appointment.
Employment Medicals
We work with local businesses and with individuals. Both Dr Camilla Nuttall and Dr James Coutts Donald carry out employment medicals, and Dr Coutts Donald has a particular interest in occupational medicine.
Pre-employment checks Confirming that you, or someone you are about to hire, is fit for the role, and flagging any adjustments the workplace should make.
Fitness to work After a period of illness, we can give an independent opinion on whether someone is ready to go back, which protects both the employee and the employer.
DVLA Driver Medicals
We carry out the standard examinations for professional drivers.
- Group 2 licences: bus and lorry (HGV and LGV) drivers.
- Taxi licences: private hire and hackney carriage. Check your council’s requirements first, as they vary.
- Motorsport: race licence medicals, done by a GP who knows the sport.
Bring your D4 form, or your council’s form, and your driving licence. If you wear glasses or contact lenses, bring your most recent prescription.
